usage stats on dataset pages

Proposed change

number of citations and/or number of downloads for a dataset would be useful information on a dataset's homepage (sorry if I missed this). also it would be nice to have an easy way to export the citation as bibtex might be nice for computational users to encourage citation (many of us use latex).

Who would use this feature?

I think dataset sharers could use this info to bolster their grant applications, to show they are collecting useful/unique/rigorous datasets

• number of downloads: planned work : AWS S3 file download logging functionality dandi-archive#1424 and there on
• we also thought about adding "github stars" for dandisets GitHub stars on dandisets dandi-archive#1119
• citations -- great idea, don't remember if we exercised it already. May be could be done via more or less naive search on scholar https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C46&q=dandi.000055%2F0.220127.0436&btnG= . I filed DLP: Display count and links to the papers which cite some version of the dandiset dandi-archive#1669
• bibtex: the issue improve ease of citation for dandisets dandi-archive#1555 is also there

Meanwhile I propose you a generic (not dandi specific) feature of doi.org to use -- request desired citation record directly from them. My bash (or zsh?) script I use daily:
