SNMP timeout !

Hi there,

i'm trying to monitor my Dell server hardware through the iDrac but i have the error: SNMP timeout!
i have followed the instructions, i have copied the MIB and check_idrac files int the correct folder, the permission should be ok as well.
i have created my command into Nagios which is: "$USER1$/check_idrac -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -v2c -c public"
i'm able to ping the host from Nagios with command check_icmp.
any idea please ?

Either requests can't reach the device (firewall?) or it doesn't listen nor respond to them (is the correct version of snmp enabled in the iDrac?)

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
Nagios server and the servers are in the same VLAN.
On the iDrac the snmp version is set to 1, but from what i read regarding the v2c it's identical to the V1. Do you think i have to change the snmp version of the iDrac to the V2 ?

SNMP v2c is a lot quicker, so give it a try. Remember also to use the IP address or hostname of the iDRAC interface, not the server interface.

I know this is a dead thread and I apologize for being a necromancer.
I just had this timeout problem, turns out I have too many mibs on my server, so it sometimes took well over 3 minutes to process the response, so Nagios just said it timed out. If anyone else stumbles upon this issue, try using the '-m' option and only use the mib that's in this repo, it may work for you.

I had this issue too, it turns out that I didn't specify a gateway in the network config of the iDrac (it is on a local network). In case somebody founds this useful.
