Can't seem to get EM7455 MR7VT to flash to generic firmware #109

So I've done plenty of 3P10Y with no issue. But I'm having serious trouble with these MR7VT. It shows everything was successful, but when I go run the Verizon flasher in Windows after running the autoflasher in Ubuntu it shows it's still on

I managed to fix the issue by manually changing the device to generic and then flashing generic firmware in Windows then flashing Verizon firmware on top of it.

Well, I have an EM7455 modem, idProduct: 0x81b6, idVendor: 0x413c in a Dell 5400 laptop with 8th Gen Core i5. Its a dual boot Win11 / macOS Monterey. It runs fine in Windows but it did not work in macOS.

I found this guide: https://zukota.com/posts/sierra-wireless-em7455-how-to-enable-com-ports/. The Ubuntu 18.4 live USB did not work for me since the Dell 5400 latest bios does not support legacy boot. I was finally able to boot the Ubuntu 22.10 live USB on another older Dell 7280 with the EM7455 inside and successfully ran the autoflash-7455.sh. It ran for some time, did all the testing, downloading and flashing and ended up with successful setting of ports. It now uses port 6 and 8.

Then I also remapped the USB ports with USBmap tool from here https://github.com/corpnewt/USBMap and made a new USBmap.kext. Plus I took the legacy_sierra_QMI.kext and modified it a bit to match Monterey macOS. Now I have a Vodafone CZ SIM card in the laptop and the whole thing is visible in HW info like this:

So no matter what was the FW status of the modem before the flashing, now it shows SWI9X30C_02.24.05.06 r7040.

Then I jumped into Windows again and went here I found that the SWI9X30C_02.24.05.06 is a Bell something... and I decided to go with the latest Generic, which is Generic | SWI9X30C_02.38.00.00. I downloaded the Windows FW package and installed it. All ran fine and ended with the 02.24.05.06 as previous and 02.38.00.00 as actual firmware installed. BUT after shutdown and power up to Monterey, the modem still shows the old 02.24.05.06. And I am not able to move on and connect to GSM network.

QUESTIONS:

is it a matter of some AT commands to make it work?
shall I somehow configure the APN in macOS? And if, then how? Any guide about it? Because I did no configuration in Windows, it just got self configured and runs 4G/LTE nice and fast.
shall I try the Vodafone | SWI9X30C_02.24.03.00 | 001.001_002 firmware since I have a Vodafone SIM card?
how did you make the manual change of the device to generic?

Any help would be appreciated!
