As a UX/UI Intern, you’ll work closely with designers, developers, and product managers to support design projects and gain hands-on experience in a professional setting.</p><p>You’ll be paired with a mentor and contribute to real projects, helping to improve the usability and design of our platform while learning about the UX/UI design process in a collaborative environment.</p><h2><strong>What you'll do</strong></h2><ul><li><p>Design Support: Assist in creating wireframes, mockups, and UI components using tools like Figma.</p></li><li><p>Research Participation: Help plan user research sessions, observe research activities, and assist in compiling findings into reports.</p></li><li><p>Design Documentation: Help maintain and organize design files, guidelines, and feedback for future reference.</p></li><li><p>Collaboration: Work with UX designers, product managers, and developers to support ongoing projects.</p></li><li><p>Iterate &amp; Improve: Make small design refinements and contribute to discussions about usability and accessibility.</p></li><li><p>Design System Support: Assist in updating and maintaining Hootsuite’s Design System to ensure consistency across products.</p></li><li><p>Agile Workflow: Participate in team meetings, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and design critiques.</p></li></ul><h2><strong>What you'll need</strong></h2><ul><li><p>Currently pursuing a degree/diploma in a related field (UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction, etc.) or some proven relatable work experience.</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with design tools like Figma (or similar).</p></li><li><p>Interest in UX/UI principles, including usability, accessibility, and interaction design.</p></li><li><p>Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn.</p></li><li><p>Strong communication skills for working with a cross-functional team.</p></li><li><p>No portfolio required, but it's great to have if you want to showcase your work.</p></li><li><p>Collaboration and Teamwork: works with others to deliver results, meaningfully contributing to the team and prioritizing group needs over individual needs</p></li><li><p>Creativity and Innovation: seeks new and better ways of doing things, generates original and imaginative ideas, products, or solutions</p></li><li><p>Courage: steps up to address difficult issues, saying what needs to be said</p></li><li><p>Open Communication: clearly conveys thoughts, both written and verbally, listening attentively and asking questions for clarification and understanding</p></li></ul><h2><strong>Who you are</strong></h2><ul><li><p>Tenacious. You will report to the Director of Product Design and work within our subscriptions area. Some experience with customer acquisition, payments and/or subscription retention is highly preferable.</p><h2><strong>Person Specification</strong></h2><p>What we’re looking for in a Junior Product Designer within our subscriptions area:</p><ul><li><p>A passion for design and a portfolio that shows you have creative flair and attention to detail in both how something looks and works.</p></li><li><p>You’ll enjoy all parts of the design process with great visual and UX abilities, as well as analytical skills to explore around the project through competitor research, concept sketching, user flows etc</p></li><li><p>You are proficient in Figma (and other design tools) in order to bring your ideas to life through interactive prototypes and presentations.</p></li><li><p>An ability to work in a well-structured way to develop your designs through critique sessions, technical feasibility reviews and stakeholder feedback.</p></li><li><p>Be able to present your ideas, with a strong rationale to explain your inspiration and thinking as to what makes it a great design</p></li><li><p>A desire to find out how users think through user research and how they behave by analysing usage data.</p></li><li><p>A collaborative nature.
