How to let Lenis know which Element to scroll?

I am writing a nextjs app and my scroll config is set up like this

export function LenisScroll() {
	const { lenis, lenisContainer } = useGlobalSnapshot()

	function raf(time: number) {
		lenis?.raf(time)
		requestAnimationFrame(raf)
	}

	useEffect(() => {
		store.lenis = ref(new Lenis({ duration: 2, wrapper: lenisContainer as HTMLDivElement | undefined }))
	}, [])

	useEffect(() => {
		lenis && requestAnimationFrame(raf)
	}, [lenis])

	return <script about='lenis' /> // just to keep myself informed
}

I checked twice and thrice that lenisContainer is not undefined and is in fact a certain container which can be scrolled. No matter what, lenis does not want to scroll this particular container and scrolls the window instead 😢
