+RECAP, Resilient Energy Communities with Advanced Protection, aims to strengthen the cybersecurity and resilience of renewable energy communities in Sweden. The project develops a cybersecurity framework that combines AI-supported threat detection, automated and adaptive risk assessment, and real-time threat response to protect virtual energy sharing based on digital communication, IoT devices, smart meters and cloud-based platforms. The work builds on previous results from CyREC and addresses challenges such as decentralized energy production, multiple attack surfaces, limited cybersecurity expertise among stakeholders, and the need for human-in-the-loop decision support. RISE participates together with Linköping University, contributing applied research expertise in cybersecurity, risk assessment and dependable energy systems, with the goal of producing methods, guidelines and best practices for secure and resilient energy communities. The project runs from 2025 to 2027 — more specifically 2025-11-01 to 2027-04-30 — and is funded through the Swedish Energy Agency call on energy communities and energy sharing for a more robust energy system. The public RISE page describes RECAP as integrating AI-based threat detection, risk assessment and real-time response to ensure reliable and secure energy sharing and regulatory compliance.
