+NGEA and NGEA Step 2 were jointly run FFI projects investigating next-generation electrical and software architectures for future connected, safe and software-intensive vehicles. The projects focused on how automotive architectures can manage increasing complexity, shorter development cycles, continuous integration and deployment, variant and product lifecycle management, and the role of the car as a constituent in larger systems-of-systems. The work produced processes, methods, proof-of-concepts, use cases, architectural approaches, demonstrators and a roadmap towards 2035. RISE, including former SP, SICS and Viktoria Swedish ICT organisations, contributed to research on systems-of-systems, dependability, functional safety, connectivity, interoperability, security and privacy for future transportation systems.
