Description
Consolidate the DNS Zone management interface by removing the redundant Overview page and merging its functionality into the DNS Records page. Currently, users navigate between two pages with overlapping functionality: the Overview page displays a preview of DNS records and nameserver information, while the DNS Records page contains the full editable list with search and filter capabilities. This creates unnecessary friction in the user experience. The consolidation will streamline navigation and improve usability by providing users direct access to all DNS management tools in a single page.
Current State Analysis
The DNS Zone section currently has two pages with redundancy:
- Overview Page - Contains a preview of DNS records and static nameserver delegation display
- DNS Records Page - Contains all DNS records (paginated) with search, filter, and editing capabilities
Proposed Solution
Remove the Overview page and consolidate all functionality into the DNS Records page. This approach is preferred based on UX feedback from design, as the Overview page content is not currently providing distinct value beyond what the DNS Records page offers.
Acceptance Criteria
- Overview page is removed from DNS Zone navigation
- All DNS management functionality is available in the DNS Records page
- Nameserver refresh functionality is preserved and accessible in DNS Records page
- User interface labels are consistent across all DNS-related actions
- Navigation is simplified with fewer steps to reach DNS management tools
- All existing DNS record management features work as before
