Events Page Design

As we broaden our GTM activities into next year, we should consider how we bring visibility of our community events onto the website.

We're leaning into Luma as our events management platform. Luma has an embed capability that will allow us to surface public events like our Alt Cloud meetups and ongoing Community Huddles; embed is the preferred method so we don't have to duplicate management efforts across various digital touch points.

The events page should nest under the "Community" nav drop down, The existing Huddle page should be accessible from the events page.

@felixwidjaja @kaleygel Is there any way we can use the API instead of using an iframe? https://docs.luma.com/reference/examples

I have concerns with iframes from a design consistency and usability perspective (esp on mobile).

Okay great. I'll work up a design that uses the relevant fields from their API then! Might be worth doing some tests on the viability of the API as I work on the design.

@chrisberridge i wonder about a filter capability so we could have a few categories of events (meetups, community, conference), and then locations (NYC, virtual, etc)

I think it's a great start! I agree with @jacobsmith928 in that filtering will be important, I also worry that this will become a bit unwieldy with scroll fatigue as we add more / do more next year.

It would be nice to have a "hero" space that would highlight the nearest event as well as the ability to look at past events

• These can be the closest to your location/manually featured/soonest
• I've added the filtering
• I'm imagining that they link straight to Luma, so users can RSVP etc.
