Moving from SJ integration

I currently use the original Stephen Joubert integration. It generally works ok for my needs after creating a custom definitions file for my LSW3 logger however it does chuck up lots of constant errors about querying registers failure.

My question is, is it worth me attempting to migrate to this integration since the other one doesn’t seem to be maintained any more.

Or is it a case of if it ain’t broke don’t fix it? What benefits am I going to get?

I’ve read some posts and it appears that you can’t run both integrations and you have to delete the other one before adding this one. Ideally be better to set new one up he it all working before deleting the old one so not putting eggs in one basket.

Hi @stephencrowther, instead of deleting the old integration, you can simply rename the folder in custom_components/ and domain in the manifest.json file (let's say to solarman_old). You will need to re-add your inverter under this new domain name, but then you will be able to install this integration alongside the old one.

You probably did something wrong :)

1. Remove configured device
2. In /homeassistant/custom_components/solarman/manifest.json change "domain": "solarman" to "domain": "solarman_old"
3. In /homeassistant/custom_components/solarman/const.py change DOMAIN = 'solarman' to DOMAIN = 'solarman_old'
4. Rename /homeassistant/custom_components/solarman/ to /homeassistant/custom_components/solarma_old/
5. Restart Home Assistant
6. Add device back again
7. Install this integration
8. Restart Home Assistant
9. Add another device (using this integration)

This should work. If not, you have to be more specific at which step it's going wrong..
