Feature Request: Skip Silences in Podcasts
Description:
Add a "Skip Silence" feature for podcast playback that automatically detects and skips over silent or near-silent segments in audio content. This is a popular productivity feature found in podcast apps like Overcast and Pocket Casts, and would significantly improve the listening experience for podcast content within YTMusic Ultimate.
Proposed Behavior:
- Automatically detect audio segments below a configurable silence threshold (e.g., < -50 dB)
- Seamlessly skip or speed through those silent gaps without any audible artifacts or interruptions
- Should be toggleable via a setting (on/off), ideally accessible from the player screen or playback settings
- Optionally allow users to configure the silence detection sensitivity/threshold
Use Case:
Many podcasters leave natural pauses, dead air, or gaps between segments. Skipping these silences can reduce total listening time by several minutes per episode, making consumption faster and more enjoyable.
Current Behavior:
Silent segments play through at full duration with no option to skip or compress them.
Expected Behavior:
Silent segments are automatically detected and skipped or compressed during podcast playback, with a user-facing toggle to enable/disable the feature.
