Adding custom input validation

Hello, I'm looking for a way to add custom input validation to the files widget so we can enforce things such as; filesize and file naming.

The only way I see it do this, us to recreate a whole File custom widget. I wasn't able to see the default one published, else it would probably be a little more trivial.
