Title: Follow Creators — New Collection Notifications
Summary:
Notify buyers when a creator they follow publishes a new collection, closing the loop on the existing follow feature with proactive re-engagement instead of requiring buyers to check back manually.
Epic:
- E3: Marketing – Primary Sales
Pillars:
- P9: Convert – Decide to buy
Impacted Metrics:
- M23 (# of unique buyers/week; new vs. returning)
- M43 (buyer repeat-purchase rate) — used as the closest available proxy for buyer retention/re-engagement; no dedicated notification metric exists yet in the tracker.
Problem
Issue #67 lets buyers follow creators and surfaces a personalized "From creators you follow" row on the homepage, but it's pull-based — buyers only see new items if they happen to revisit the marketplace. There's no proactive signal when a followed creator publishes, so buyers who'd act immediately on a new drop (before it sells out or loses momentum) have no way to know it exists, and time-sensitive re-engagement/repeat-purchase opportunities are lost.
Proposal
When a followed creator publishes a new collection, trigger a notification (email and/or in-app/push) to each follower, linking directly to the new collection. Should include per-user notification preferences/opt-out to avoid fatigue, and should batch items published close together into a single "new collection" notification rather than one per item. This builds directly on the follow/unfollow mechanism scoped in #67 — it does not duplicate it, it adds the notification delivery layer on top.
