[Bug]: Gemini end stream on tool

Bug Description

Gemini is struggling with with tool calling, once it calls a tool it stops, here is screenshots from wingman (gemini 3 flash and pro)

This bug happens in other coding agents too

Steps to Reproduce

1. run wingman
2. tell the find and read the readme

Expected Behavior

tool call succeeds and stream continuea

Actual Behavior

stream ends

Adding some more info here:

When using Gemini in OpenCode and Wingman, normal chat prompts succeed, but any prompt that requires (or implies) a tool call fails. After the failure, Gemini continues to work again for prompts that don't involve tool calls.

Observed behavior

• Plain text requests (no tools) work reliably.
• Requests like "find/read/summarize X" that should trigger a tool call fail.
• Immediately after, another plain text request works again.

Example prompts (minimal repro)

1. Works:

• "Hello"

2. Fails (tool-call implied):

• "Find the README in this repo and summarize it."
• "Read README.md and summarize it."

3. Works again:

• "Write a 500 character love poem."

Expected behavior

Gemini should successfully complete requests that require tool calls (e.g., file search/read/summarize) the same way it completes non-tool chat requests.

Actual behavior

Any tool-call request fails, while non-tool chat requests succeed before and after.
