Server minimum requirements

Looking in the documentation, I don't see anywhere where it lists the requirements for the server. I'm running it on a pretty small vps, and it seems to be crashing due to not enough memory, in addition to an error in the beginning in that it requires 20gb of space. So... how much should I have for this?

From my experience, I would say Reitti on its own would probably run fine on a 512MB host. But this will assume you do not want to import some bigger files like Google Timeline Records.json. This file alone can be a couple of GB in size depending how long it goes back.

You would also need to move everything out of the machine onto another host.
Photon (that needs the 20GB for its geo index) can be skipped when you rely on remote services for Geocoding.

Thanks for the reply! It was almost certainly trying to import old takeout data that caused it to run out of memory. The VPS only has 1GB ram, so I guess it needs more than that to process it. I'll try using opencage for geocoding. I noticed the owntracks app has that as an option built in. Not sure if that would be helpful or not.

For geocoding i could also suggest geoapify. You have to create an account but getting 3000 request per day free.

Thanks! I'll look into that one too. I just set up OpenCage, but in theory multiple are fine to spread the load? And as long as I've got some options in the geocoding section, Photon just conplains about not having the 20GB but it's not a problem?

No, that should not be a problem. It would be cleaner to remove then also the PHOTON_BASE_URL from the compose file. Also you can drop the whole photon service.

Else Reitti will first try the configured Photon Service and after that your configured additional services.
