[Docker] Update error

It does not check at the beginning if there is an update correctly.

When doing it manually, the zip file downloads, but if I restart the container, it does not extract, it only gives errors.

If I extract it manually, the old version is displayed when running hytale-downloader -version.

the error Extraction failed usually points to the drive being full. The extraction process requires a bit of extra temporary space to unpack the files

Please check your available storage (e.g., running df --human-readable) to ensure you aren't at 100% usage?

I have about 170GB of free space, that's not it; in fact, as I said, it works when I perform the extraction manually.

This error is quite problematic, since even with debug mode it doesn't give any information to deal with.

A good chunk of those errors are not caused by a disk being full, but rather the download process getting interrupted after the server fails the provided health-checks (after waiting a specified amount of time). This causes the corruption of the .zip file in the process (Mostly caused by a slow internet). Server reboots, then this error occurs without further explanation.

I needed to add the following to the docker compose file:

healthcheck:
      disable: true

Plus removing those files (change according to the version present in your dir):

rm 2026.01.17-4b0f30090.zip game/Assets.zip game/Server/HytaleServer.jar

I know this is a band-aid fix, but this will work until an official patch is implemented.

Same issue.
When i run:
hytale-downloader
On the container terminal, it downlods the new zip, but when i restart the conteiner it does not aply the update.

I've run into this error myself, though I believe I resolved it. I'm running on TrueNAS Scale via Portainer. I believe the issues were permissions related, as disabling the health check as was recommended above didn't fix it for me. It was a bit of a clunky process, and I dont know if it was all required, but what got this working was:

• Stop the server
• Backup the universe directory somewhere
• delete (or rename) the bind mount location that the container points to at /home/container
• update the container's docker-compose.yml to include user: 1000:1000 as a parameter (see the attached example) as is shown in the official TrueNAS Scale example docker-compose.yml file.
• restart the container, authenticate again and let it regenerate credentials, redownload the server binary, and fully start. It should be able to download and fully extract the newest server files automatically
• stop the server again
• delete the universe directory that was just created and replace it with the backup
• run chmod -R 1000:1000 universe/ in the bind mount location that points to /home/container
• restart the server

This does require setting up ssh access to your TrueNAS instance if that's what you're running, so understand the security implications of that and disable it once you're done to be safe. Additionally, if you are still having issues and are on TrueNAS scale, its worth checking your filesystem ACL permissions for the share that you're storing the server files on. Specifics there will depend on your setup, though.
