[New Feature request] Enable local file paths to be added to bookmark

There are quite a few files locally on my laptop which I want to tag and bookmark for correlation. It would be helpful if there are easier ways to add to the links to faved.

Additionally, if this can be hosted as a desktop app, then, we can also have shortcuts created to add the bookmark directly into faved.

Thank you for the suggestion, @manu29585. Adding local file paths to bookmarks makes a lot of sense. Submitted this to the roadmap.

Regarding the shortcut to add bookmark to Faved, you can have that right now using the Shortcuts app on macOS and iOS.

Here is a shortcut you can install - https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/58d96abaca9743b8bf40d610b8715f76

Follow the link above on either macOS and iOS device, click Get Shortcut there, then click Add Shortcut on the following window that shows up:

Provide the URL of your Faved installation (by default it displays the Faved Cloud URL), and click Add Shortcut

After that, "Add to Faved" action will show in the Services Menu in the Share Sheet (just make sure Shortcuts app is enabled in System Settings (Apple menu → System Settings) → Privacy & Security → Extensions → Sharing)

If you have iCloud sync enabled for the Shortcuts app on both Mac and iOS, it will sync and will be available on all your Apple devices.

Let me know if that worked for you.

Local file paths are supported starting v2.2.8. You can now add a local path in a format like C:\Users\Bob\Documents\file.pdf or file:///C:/Users/Bob/Documents/file.pdf when adding or editing a bookmark.

However, most browsers will not allow you to open local files or folders by clicking the path link directly for security reasons. You have two options: use the path link to navigate further in your file manager or copy it and paste it into the browser's search bar to open it in the browser.
