Exploration: Add High-Level Disability Indicator(s)

During the BVA (Blinded Veterans Association) presentation on November 28th, Veterans who were present requested that we add disability indicators within the app.

Reasoning:
Currently, there is no form of proof that you’re blind other than a BVA ID card, bracelet, etc. Even VA letters do not clearly state this. Is it possible to list specific disabilities somewhere in the app (i.e. visually impaired, hearing impaired, etc.)?

Some ideas for placement proposed during the presentation included:

• The addition of a health summary page
• Adding disability indicators to Veteran status
• Adding this to the VHIC (Veteran Health Identification Card)
  • With the possibility of adding this card to the app in the future

Information might be present in CPRS (Consolidated Patient Record System). Next step might be to coordinate with POs and external teams to determine the data source and how to pull it into VAHB.
