Description
During the BVA (Blinded Veterans Association) presentation on November 28th, Veterans who were present requested that we either replace vaccine names with "non-medical" names (i.e. "Shingles vaccine" vs. "Zoster vaccine") or we add a brief description of what each vaccine is for to the vaccine records screen.
Reasoning:
- Zoster, for example, doesn't tell you anything if you don't know that it is a shingles vaccine (the Veteran thought this was for something completely different and we had to Google Zoster to find out that it was for shingles).
- "They are already using non-medical terms for FLU (vs. influenza) vaccine, so why couldn’t you do that for all of them?"
According to Timothy Hornik (a previous VA employee) with BVA, this is something that is present in the CPRS (Computerized Patient Record System) and we should be able to pull into the app.
