After the fortnite 38 update, the size of downloaded files became smaller than in the epic games laucher. (54.4gb vs 62.2gb) A lot of files are missing and the game crashes when the match starts.

A complete reinstall did not help.
--repair same
--repair-and-update same
The only solution is to transfer the missing files from the folder with the game installed through the epic games launcher.

I'm getting this issue too my player doesn't load on the menu screen and when it finds a match it loads forever then crashes to an unreal engine error box

Same here, happened since this update started and even though force updating today actually downloaded some additional files I'm surprised the game is still broken.

+1 to Crashing since the v38 Fortnite update, game works okay in the lobby, no crashing but multiple cosmetics failing to load, then an instant crash to desktop upon trying to load into a match of BR or STW (Haven't tried a Creative map but I would assume the same happens)

Was able to download an update today, but the same still occurs.

UPDATE: Using Heroic Games' Fork of Legendary (found here and running legendary repair fortnite --reset-sdl has put the game back to a working state.
