Toast not displayed on language change (works in test mode)

Steps to reproduce

1. Open Thumb-Key keyboard in any app
2. Switch the language/layout using the language key.
3. Observe that no toast notification is shown for the layout name.

Test mode/Settings:

1. Go to Settings > Look & Feel screen.
2. Use the language switch or test out in the "TestOutTextField".
3. Toast notifications work as expected.

Expected behavior

Toast with the new layout/language name should be shown when changing language/layout while using the keyboard.

Actual behavior

No toast is shown.

There's a setting in behavior for "Show toast on layout switch"

Do you have that on?

Yes, it’s checked. It works when I test it inside a settings, but not in any other text field.

Hrm looks like you're correct and this is a bug. Toasts don't seem to be working outside the app for some reason.

It might be a while before I get to this.

It looks like that, for some reason, in the application settings notifications are denied. The setting is greyed out, so I can't change it.

Still, since the toast displays correctly in test mode, I'm not sure if this is relevant or not.

I think it might be better to use a snackbar for messages anyway.
