🚨 Urgent Call: Frontend Developers & Tech Talent for Civic Tech Project in NYC!
Deadline: September 8th — Help Us Help New York City!
We’re urgently seeking talented #FrontendDevelopers and other #TechTalents to join the team at Palumba NYC as we race to launch an innovative civic tech app ahead of the NYC Mayoral Election — just 50 days away! We’re partnering with Who’s On The Ballot (Columbia SIPA’s long-standing, nonpartisan initiative).
Spread the word or join us — together, we can empower New York’s next generation of voters!
👏 What We Do
At Palumba NYC, our mission is to make democracy accessible through technology. Our app helps users:
- Match with candidates based on values & priorities
- Access personalized election info: polling locations, deadlines & ballot guides
- Understand NYC mayoral candidates with neutral, trustworthy data
- Engage friends & communities to boost voter participation
👍 Why Join Us?
- Palumba.org: Our “Tinder-style” civic app reached nearly 200,000 users and was chore(deps): bump pbkdf2 from 3.0.17 to 3.1.3 #1 in the App Store in several European countries.
- Who’s On The Ballot: Columbia SIPA’s renowned nonpartisan voter awareness campaign, directed by Prof. Ester Fuchs.
- Impact: Help mobilize youth voters and shape the future of civic engagement in NYC!
👩💻 Open Roles
We’re ready to go — except for these 2 key positions:
1. Front-End Developers (Flutter)
- Adapt our open-source Palumba app (GitHub repo)
- Start ASAP
- Experience with Flutter required; UI/UX design skills a plus
2. WordPress & MySQL Database Experts
- Help update whosontheballot.org
- Scrape official voting district data & improve site interface
- Start ASAP
Timeline: Now → Election Day (Nov 2025)
