Which root path setting to use in the chart?

I want to use eoapi behind a custom reverse proxy, so i need to configure the root path.

There seem to be 2 ways of setting it:

1. --root-path as uvicorn command line parameter: https://github.com/developmentseed/eoapi-k8s/blob/main/helm-chart/eoapi/templates/services/deployment.yaml#L35
2. ROOT_PATH setting, here e.g. in titiler: https://developmentseed.org/titiler/intro/#settings

Which one is the correct one? Or do i have to set both?

So do both of them achieve the same thing? In this case maybe one of them could be removed, e.g. by setting ROOT_PATH instead of uvicorn --root-path in the chart. Then it would be clear how chart users can customize this.

I don't see where _ROOT_PATH is set in the service environment 🤔

Ah, sorry, I meant that ROOT_PATH could possibly be set instead of --root-path in the future, as far as I'm aware only --root-path is set in the chart right now.

So my confusion comes from the fact that i looked up "titiler root path" and found the docs, which describe the env var, but the chart uses a different mechanism.

I've continued investigating this now:

For titiler, it's possible to set the root path via uvicorn --root-path as well as the environment variable TITILER_PGSTAC_API_ROOT_PATH. To enable this in the helm chart, ingress.className has to be set to testing123 (otherwise a wrong root path is set here) and the env var has to be added to raster.settings.envVars

However how can the root path be set for stac-api?

i found a root_path here:

It's not a stac-fastapi-pgstac setting, it's not mentioned here:
https://github.com/stac-utils/stac-fastapi-pgstac/blob/main/stac_fastapi/pgstac/config.py#L46

However looking in the stac-fastapi repo, i found the settings that stac-fastapi-pgstac inherits from, and i think the root_path field comes from here:

The docs say that if the env_prefix is not defined, then only using ROOT_PATH should be correct:

However for some reason this doesn't seem to have any effect. So what's the correct way of setting the root path for stac-api?

for stac-fastapi, there is no env option to set the root_path (it was added in https://github.com/stac-utils/stac-fastapi/blob/main/CHANGES.md#304---2025-01-08, but not yet in stac-fastapi-pgstac backend)

we are blocked in stac-fastapi-pgstac and are waiting for another stac-fastapi release (when stac-utils/stac-fastapi#790 gets merged)

I think it would be easier to use --root-path option in Uvicorn for the moment

Ok, there is no setting to set root-path as such though. I've managed to set it via the chart by using these values:
