OTP via WhatsApp or SMS

Hello,

we are developing a service in Africa with dexie-cloud.
Here almost no one has/uses email, but everyone has WhatsApp.
Even power and mobile bundles are bought through USSD.

Is it possible to implement sending the OTP to dexie using WhatsApp?
If yes, is there an example?

Hi! Thanks for sharing your demand and the situation.

What could be possible would be to configure a custom SMTP server in manager.dexie.cloud to a server that would act as a relay to WhatsApp API. The OTP dialog could then be customized to ask for phone number instead of email.

Maybe you could use a service such as Twilio's whatsapp integration to send the messages? I haven't tried this yet, but that could possibly be one way forward.

Thank you. That is a good solution. After mobile number identification we also could have (another) custom SMTP server to send OTPs as push messages inside the (web) app.
