I think the note in the field label "https//…" is telling me that I can specify the homepage without the protocol: "google.com" or "www.google.com", but this results in an invalid format; I always have to include the protocol (https://) before it. I think "google.com" should be sufficient to meet the format requirements. What do you think?

Unfortunately not all Websites use https, so it's not so easy to omit the protocol. The same applies to the "www" subdomain. Most providers redirect "www" to the root domain (or vice versa), but this doesn't apply to all websites.
I agree, that the label indicates, that you don't need to specify the protocol.
My suggestion is to change the label into "Homepage (https://www.ihre-domain.de/)" and to adjust the error message to "Das Format Ihrer URL ist ungültig." If we know, that the protocol is missing, I'd mention this in the error message as well.

I think the task description is not optimal.
It's about this screen:

We should advise people to enter fully qualified URLs, including the protocol and, if necessary, the subdomain.

My suggestion is:

• change the label to "Homepage (https://www.ihre-domain.de)"
• change the placeholder text to "https://www.ihre-domain.de"
• change the error message to "Das Format ihrer Homepage-URL ist ungültig."

If we can detect that the protocol is missing, I would indicate this in the error message (e.g. "Geben Sie das Protokoll (http oder https) der Homepage-URL an.").

I think the suggestions by @connium are reasonable. If there are no objections, I'd implement them as is.
