Claws mail client facing issues with client certificate authentication for IMAP/SMTP to a Maddy Email Server

I am trying to use Claws mail client for client certificate authentication method for IMAP/SMTP (submissions) to a self-hosted Maddy email server.

It simply doesn't work.

I filed a report with Claws:

They have come to the following conclusion in a bug report comment:

"imap-thread.c:712:connect 4 with imap 0x31c0ab00". This shows that you have achieved an authenticated connection. The problem is not with the ceritificates and the connections, but after you have authenticated.

It looks to me that this is a libetpan problem/bug.
