Feature Request: mutlicolumn output for simplelist option

I would like to be able to display a -simplelist generated with pagelist in multiple columns (col2, col3, col4, col5).

I'm specifically using the tag plugin's topic statement to generate a list of pages that match a tag. I've tried using the wrap plugin around the topic statement with the col? class, but it does not work.
