A gtk front end

Yeah that is true, But also I think it would much simpler to maintain and recognized if it was a subdir within the project ui or gui. Especially that pymobiledevice3 is written with python so the gui should be easy with python

pymobile currently is much more focused on protocol compatibility then user-facing stuff. that is why stuff like performing a backup are located inside the backup2 instead of backup (Apple used to have a protocol named backup for older devices, which was later replaced by backup2).

Because of this, a UI will have to decide which API to use based on the connected device and perform aggregation of multiple service protocol to achieve different stuff.

Also, a legit claim can be made that a web ui is more convenient for operating stuff at a large scale and thus i prefer it be as wrapper built on top of the existing interfaces.
