I was thinking about Twinsock instead of Trumpet, but indeed it would seem nice to get networking too.

Do you think the unix side of Twinsock could be a dosemu plugin?

install Trumpet. Swapping the
2 would be simple.

My main issue with Trumpet is that the original author is still selling the software and asking people to pay for it also when they still run it on Windows 3.1:

The other things these scripts fetch are not actively offered for sale by their original authors.

It seems with the current version of dosemu2, Ultra TwinSock works quite well, but the host binary needs to be in a place here the dosemu2 user can find it.
The following works for me:

1. cp utshost /tmp/
2. Add a line to the configuration: $_com4 = "exec /tmp/utshost"
3. Run dosemu2 and start the Windows portion
4. Set the program to COM4
5. File -> Connect

The connection will be established.

Do you think we could incorporate this in some way?

I think we can provide a package with the host part, and integrate it on a doc level, asking the user to configure the com port by hands. Not how things are supposed to be integrated, but good enough until the proper tcp support is in. Суббота, 15 марта 2025 г получено от Julius Schwartzenberg:

It seems this winsock dll has some extra dependencies:

I don't have these files and these dialogs keep looping. (Probably because I have Netscape AIM auto-starting.)

Yes, that one looks better (also quite a bit bigger), but it's not working with Ultra TwinSock at least. When I run ./utshost from the shell inside Ultra TwinSock, I get:

And Ultra TwinSock closes. Maybe I should look into getting TwinSock 1.2 running, but I don't think I ever got that to work. You took TwinSock 1.2 because of the license?

It seems I'm having some performance issues with Windows 3.1. Should that be corrected with the upcoming PPA builds? (I saw quite some commits in that regard.)

I managed to compile TwinSock 1.2's tshost binary:

• grab both twnsck12.zip and twnsck14.zip (or ultrts02.zip it has the same file)
• replace TwinSock 1.2's term.c with pterm.c from TwinSock 1.4
• running build.sh and/or make -f Makefile should now successfully compile tshost

It seems to be less stable than Ultra TwinSock, but at some point my entire DOSEMU2 was hanging.
