Lots of regression

Has anyone else noticed a lot of regression recently?

Last year we had removed a bunch of workarounds as bug fixes were made, and we saw some long running issues had eventually been fixed.

I don't know exactly when but a recent release seems to have brought a lot of these issues back in again. Examples:

• Camera rotating photos onto their side again (Android) but work ok in iOS.
• iOS image layout completely screwed up again - e.g. in collectionview or lists the images randomly size and position themselves - even as you scroll back up images change size to what they were when you scrolled past them.
• Popups no longer working
• Performance issues in collectionview
• Keyboard prevents page from scrolling - makes the page pretty much unusable. (So many long ongoing keyboard problems - it's not even funny any more)

I had a list of around 10 things that I had already fixed up in the past which seemed to regress. I had to look at old code changes from last year an reintroduce workarounds.

Yes.

But. They are working hard with AI help, I think the complexity is soo high, testing all the devices ... constantly racing for new iOs (xcode) and Android updates, which again, introduces new bug, new phones coming out, every manufacturer have their own specific set of rules ... I think with time, things will get better with improved tests, AI, ... something else. For me, lately, MAUI has been preatty stable with medium complex app.

Yes it's to be expected to a certain extent, but it just seems like with this recent update someone has accidentally reverted 9 months worth of bug fixes.

Shoudln't the Camera and Popup parts of your question be split/moved to https://github.com/CommunityToolkit/Maui/discussions?

Hi @stephenquan it was just a general question. All the individual problems have been already logged as bugs.

Just like this one, the change caused my app to crash immediately. I had no choice but to keep using the modified version of MAUI instead of the official release.
