Some background for this: I'm currently building out a Core project without any UI. The console project provides a Host Startup for background tasks etc and the way the Core project provides its implementation to the host is by the host passing in the HostEnvironment details and the core changes according to the consumer (Console app or UI app).

@Eilon Raised this quite a while ago now, the the Maui Pattern has changed a lot since first raising this github issue. Is this current issue known/aware? I'm trying to find more information around hostingcontext. Any links that could help?

@pjmagee there is likely some work here that is just not done yet. MAUI doesn't have great support for "environments" right now, and also doesn't load exactly the same default configuration settings. This is in part because MAUI can also run on Android/iOS where some of these concepts don't make as much sense.

We have issue #2270 that's tracking determination of what default settings should be used, which probably includes the issues covered here.
