Duplicate Dropbox icons in top bar on Ubuntu (24.04.3 LTS) #158

@vbresan

Description

@vbresan

After system login, two Dropbox icons appear in the top bar, as illustrated in the following image:

Image

  • Dropbox version: 238.4.6075
  • ps output shows only one Dropbox process running.
  • Opening drop-down menu by clicking on one icon makes the other one disappear.
  • Exiting Dropbox from console removes both icons; restarting shows only one until next login.
  • Toggling autostart (dropbox autostart n/y) recreates the ~/.config/autostart/dropbox.desktop file and a single Startup Applications entry, but duplicate icons persist on login.

Workaround:
gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.appindicator legacy-tray-enabled false
