Description

The Alternative Driver Installation documentation does not explain how to download the driver when DBeaver is running as a non-admin user where. DBeaver cannot write to its own folders when downloading.
Or when DBeaver is running as an admin, it can write to its folders but cannot connect to the internet.
Therefore, please explain how to manually download the driver and manually load it into dbeaver.

After some effort I found the following manual steps to work:

  1. Search Maven for the DuckDB JDBC Driver
  2. Click on Browse to see the file listing
  3. Find the .jar file for your OS
  4. Download to a location on your computer
  5. Open DBeaver > Database > Driver Manager
  6. Find DuckDB and click Edit
  7. Open Libraries tab > Add File and select the file you downloaded.
  8. Move it to the top of the list, or delete all other items in the list.
  9. Click Find Class and confirm org.duckdb.DuckDBDriver is identified.
  10. Save
  11. Attempt to connect to your DB
