Difference compared to Mooncake/Moonlink?

I was wondering, what's the difference between a ducklake (great project btw) and mooncake / moonlink other than storage format?

from what I've seen, it only disallows (requires license) if you host moonlink as a service, but if you use in your application you should be fine, no?
