Is DuckDB required for DuckLake

To make sure that I understand the architecture correctly: can PostgreSQL be used solely as the DuckLake metadata storage, without the need for DuckDB?

DuckLake is a spec, the only implementation that exists for now is for DuckDB, as an extension.

You can use whatever DBMS as the metadata catalog you want, Postgres is a viable option.
But the logic of updating and managing this metadata catalog is what requires a DuckLake implementation, which at the moment is only implemented by DuckDB.
