What happened?
Setting --sidebar-width as explained here has no effect:

When increasing header height with setting --header-height the tops of the nav and page content are getting lost behind the header.
Without setting the layout dimensions:
With setting layout dimensions (circled is the only difference I see for nav getting wider):
