Recap of the last openDuT meeting

We decided that we would change the orientation slightly: Instead of going through the last meeting again, everyone can ask questions about the last meeting. In this way, we focus on content that is of interest to the participants, on questions that arise when reading the minutes.

Partner activity in the past two weeks

Hazem:

• we are final to contribute -> we want to push contributions
• We will attend the VECS conference in Sweden, Guttenberg from 5.5. to 6.5. (see also: https://insightevents.se/VECS/). Here we want to push openDuT -> Is there any slide we can use?
  • Michael: We have some slides from the OCX conference, which can be used. You also can adapt the content and the layout to your needs.
• want to integrate hardware to the openDuT setup (IXXAT Virtual CAN Interface): interest in connecting a CAN-based device to a PC -> USB to CAN?
  • Michael research what we have done here so far

Nadin:

• At the beginning
• Looking at test scripts,
• Is not familiar with rust
• Will make the software-part, Fabian: hardware

Ahmed:

• Usage of openDuT in Shift2SDV, HAL4SDV
• Want to run openDuT, but there is an cyber security issue from IT: using VPN / Wireguard -> not expected to have VPN traffic
  • Cannot look at data inside
  • Need to enable enterprise security -> how to get insights?
  • Discussed several ideas like using own organizational certificates. If openDuT supports that, decryption should be possible
  • Question: Is ecosystem mobility 4.0 interesting for openDuT? (see: https://ecosystemmobility40.de/en/fields-of-action/); there is funding available

Michael:

• Visited OCX conference in Brussels
• Very good conference, lots of listeners, some good discussions, we hope some will join us
• Prepared HackFest HS Esslingen
  • involved openSOVD, S-CORE, openDuT, openBSW
  • Used CDA (openSOVD) to fold/unfold mirrors or open/close windows
  • worked with MB, Porsch and BMW were close to success
  • also other challenges / developments in openDuT (identified bugs, added PIN for DuT use in cluster, added dark theme)

CAN-Connection:

We used different solutions. The following worked well

• Kvaser Leaf Light v2: https://www.kvaser.com/product/kvaser-leaf-light-hs-v2/ (expensive)
• CAN HAT for RPi (https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/RS485_CAN_HAT_(B))
• NUCLEO-F446RE: https://www.st.com/en/evaluation-tools/nucleo-f446re.html in combination with embassy: https://github.com/embassy-rs/embassy

There are many other options as well. Whatever works for you the best.

Look inside data in Wireguard VPN:

Netbird takes care of peer-to-peer encryption itself. The private keys remain on the device and the management layer and the data layer are separate. Thus, the content of the communication is generally not visible. As of now, we don't have a solution for that.
