modifying 2 different objects on the graph by 2 threads - need to synchronize?

hi
assuming I have 2 threads (2 different transactions) modifying completely different parts of the tree.
when calling store on the storage manager:

1. do I still need to synchronize the storing operation? (via XThreads.executeSynchronized for example).
2. if these threads were to work on the same portion of the tree is the answer different?

NOTE that my question is not from a data consistency point of view but from a framework proper function point of view.

Hi,
hope that I understood your questions correctly…

1. When the modified parts of a graph are independent you don’t need to synchronize storing operations.
2. If threads work on the same portion you must synchronize.

The important thing is that you must ensure that data that will be persisted is not modified from another thread while it is processed by eclipse store. This because the object graph is owned by your application and not by eclipse store. Therefore we cannot prevent other threads from modifying the graph.

i was just wondering if calling any of the store variants does some global things such that even if I am working on 2 completey different parts of the object graph i still need to synchronize - so in that respect i now have an aswer...
