Should we use another name for 'cast'

Currently cast is used to identify an event that does not generate a reply. The alternative is named call.

Are there any better names for such event types?

Examples (which I don't like very much):

• cast ➡️ async_call or async_trigger
• call ➡️ sync_call or sync_trigger

One option could be send as we're fundamentally sending a message/event.

That's a possibility. Personally, I prefer cast to that because it sounds similar to call, which reinforces that the two events belong to the same category.

As a matter of fact, I like cast, so the short answer to the question under discussion for me is "no" ;-)

Sorry to restart the discussion, but I like the idea of having a sync/async in the name of the function. Indeed, the word "cast" does not give any implicit hint about being async. Adding a prefix gives immediately the idea of what the function does and avoid to read the documentation every time, especially for newcomers.
