Line 405 and 425 of zap2epg.py have escaped characters. When it runs you get an error. I believe these lines should be chsub = re.search(r'(\d+)$', chName) but I'm not sure.

Which channels are you trying to parse? Can you give a zipcode and a station channel and name please so I can test?

Interestingly I am seing the exact same error from my TVH:

My version of the zap2epg differs slightly but also points to:

chsub = re.search('(\d+)$', chSign)

Noting that chSign has now changed to chName on this master branch... I believe @squirtbrnr is right, could be as simple as adding r to tell python to not bother with \.

I did a quick test on my system and I confirm that this solves the issue.

Doesn't adding the r make it so the r needs to be in the chName variable? I ran the code with your zipcode and couldn't reproduce the error.

The code looks at the channel number to see if there is a subchannel number 31.1 and if it does not (i.e. 31) it looks at the name to see if there are digits at the end of the name. If so, it will append the trailing name digits to the subchannel. For example. WGHYDT2 would change the channel number to 31.2.

If we add the r into the regex query, it will never find what it is looking for and simply append a .1 to the channel number. @th0ma7 which zipcode did you use to reproduce the error?

I did a really quick test over lunch time and simply didn't see the error msg being triggered in thv log files anymore.

The logic might indeed not be respected anymore, I'd have to look further when i have extra cycles.

yes, even with the latest build I still see these two errors when the grabber runs. I did update my channel list to make sure it had the latest channels available in my area.

What I have read about escape characters and the re command seems to indicate the r in front of the character string is required, otherwise it treats it as an escaped character. I'll be honest though, I don't know the impact or what happens.
