Layout settings are not automatically saved and restored for ebooks (EPUB/PDF)

Layout settings reset to defaults when reopening books. This seems intentional - what's the reasoning behind not auto-saving user preferences per book?

There was a time when Thorium applied the same presentation settings (display configuration) to all publications, and there was a special opt-in feature to preserve parameters for each individual publication.
Testing revealed that because EPUB publications can have very different authored styles, the automatic application of the same reading system overrides for all ebooks resulted in a bad user experience.
So now every newly-imported publication starts with fresh display preferences. Users can save and apply their preferred preset to other publications.
