Help adjusting driver for MDC support

Hello!

The firmware I maintain contains a lot of the parts of egzumer, but I am a noob at chirp drivers, would you consider helping me add in this small feature to the driver? https://chirpmyradio.com/issues/12176?next_issue_id=12173&prev_issue_id=12178

I have an existing image and all the source code documented out there, just need someone who knows their way around the driver to help me make that happen! Thank you!

For start, all UV-K5 moded drivers inherit from UV-K5 base class. The base class checks for firmware variant string while reading from a radio and loads correct driver variant. My driver is defined in uvk5_egzumer.py That is the only file that you have to copy and modify to create your own driver.

That is the first thing you have to change. This string has to match the string defined in your firmware.

Thank you for your guidance, I appreciate that, I am sadly far from a developer, more someone who knows enough to be dangerous and get myself 90% of the way there. I have at least started to figure out where the memory values are mapped:

- this is the MDC ID of 1E61, all that is left to be mapped out is where the actual MDC toggle is stored, and of course building UI logic for both settings.

I have it documented better over in the actual chirp feature request, I think Dan with chirp team is going to be reviewing that at some point this week, but really I am trying to get more smart minds to work on this with me for what will probably be an easy lift for you guys. The dream is to be part of the force supporting the cheapest radio with MDC1200. I'm so darn close, just need people familiar more with the UVk5 and CHIRP drivers.
