fix: drop axios http client in favor of native node fetch

This commit, in addition to dropping the axios dependency,
also updates various dev dependencies. Many of these dependencies
have not been updated since the first release of this package.

As a result of this update, all CVE's caused by **dev** dependencies
have been fixed.
