Version support parity with Elasticsearch-ruby

I couldn't find another topic or discussion on this, but what's the plan for this gem to support Elasticsearch 9.X ? The main API gem elasticsearch-ruby already supports this, but there are no dates or estimates that I know of when the Rails gems will support 9. X. What are the main roadblocks that prevent 9.x support here?
