The application should not prevent anyone to create a room with a name that already exist. I guess there has been another issue. The report claims that iOS is displaying an error in this case. Can you confirm @element-hq/element-x-ios-reviewers ?

Yes, AFAIK room names do not need to be unique, and I wasn't also able to reproduce the freeze by creating a room with the same name. It was a "red herring" likely and I think we can close the issue.

In theory it will complain if the room is public and the alias isn't unique. Maybe that's what they meant as I think we automatically pre-fill the alias with the room's name don't we?

In that case the Create button is disabled on Android and you can't proceed. I tried to press Create very quickly (before it got disabled by the address check) and in that case I get a clear error message.
