Minimize the window when selecting an already selected application

Problem

When I select an application, it appears on the screen. When I select it again, I expect it to minimize, or at least, this is the expected behavior that other docks have, like Windows, macOS, or Dash to Dock.

Proposal

Minimize the application when I reselect the app.

Sorry design conflict. Pantheon’s multitasking model is around workspaces not minimizing. When designing the new dock the intention is to make sure clicking an app icon always brings you to an app, not takes away an app. Taking away the minimize action here solved some issues with multi-window apps especially. So the dock is working as designed here

Wanted to add follow up information here that the workspace switcher has now landed: #361

So we do have easy ways to switch workspaces, go to a new clean workspace, and get a window spread of the current workspace with just the mouse. Future features will include rearranging those workspaces and moving windows between them. So we’re getting really close to a mouse-only workspaces workflow that should make it a little more clear to folks who haven’t been using gestures, hotcorners, or keyboard shortcuts why this is our multitasking model
