Emoji picker shortcut does nothing

What Happened?

The default shortcut to open the emoji picker is Super + . . Sadly, nothing appears when I press the key combination, and the dot character . is typed instead.

I've tried with and without a running IBus daemon.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Enable the IBus daemon (System Settings, Applications, Startup) and reboot.
2. Activate any text-box and press the emoji picker key combo.

Expected Behavior

I've never seen the elementary emoji picker, so I don't know what it looks like. I suppose it's a dialog (a popup window), or maybe just a simple inline search box.

The emoji shortcut started working 😃, and I'm not sure what fixed it.

I've created a second user and logged in as that. On first login, I received a notification from IBus saying "IBus should be called from the desktop session in Wayland...". "That's interesting" — I thought. Then I opened up the text editor and found out that I could finally type emoji!

I came back to my original user (the first one created after the system was installed), and it was working there too! 🤔
