AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series randomly freezes #845

What Happened?

(First of all, thanks for the great effort you all put at this great work)

I've been using elementary as my daily driver for quite a few years now, and I've recently got my hands on a Gen 2 Framework laptop, Ryzen AI 5 340.
Ever since. I experience freezes with it that I do not experience with my other computer, an AMD Ryzen 5 5600, so I think it might be a hardware compatibility issue.

It freezes randomly and, aparently, irrecoverably, after some time of usage. usually within a few minutes. The screen remains showing whatever it showed at the momento of the freeze, but I can't interact with anything. Even the system clock uptop freezes.
It is possible to switch to TTY1, TTY2, ..., though. I usually end up using it to reboot the system. killall or kill commands on chrome or whatever it is I am running doesnt help, either.

I have had it stable for a few minutes, then put it to sleep, and pull it again for a few minutes of usage before it freezes.
I have had it freeze without ever going into sleep.

Reading about people with the same issues on Frameworks forum, I've seen people exchange tips on which kernels work best and it seems the current for eOS 8 (6.14.0) should be more than good enough, but it keeps freezing.
Since then I've tried mainline kernels 6.14's, 6.15's and even 6.16, to no avail: always the same freezes.
I've even had it in one of those kernels, running s-tui on stress test all night long, all good, to come in the morning, stop the test and have it freeze while doing something else, like checking emails or something else I can't remember.

On the past few days, I've tried Ubuntu MATE 25.04, and it seems to work great. No one freeze, even though it uses kernel 6.14.0, just like eOS. Noteworthy it uses 6.14.0-27, while eOS uses 6.14.0-29 at this moment (Yes, I've tried 6.14.0-27 on my machine with eOS, and I was typing this issue entry when it froze and I had to switch to my work macbook 🤮).

I don't know what logs to look for, or where, but if you need anything to help investigating the issue further, let me know. I decided to try and keep eOS installed to help if I can, at least for the next few weeks.

Steps to Reproduce

  • I'm sorry, but there is no particular app I was using, or behavior pattern to follow, it just freezes at random;

Expected Behavior

  • Not freezing [? idk what to say here, sorry]
    also, if this is not the proper channel or place to report the issue, please forgive me and redirect me to the right place? ty
