Participants: Florian Wuhr, Daniel Krippner, Pete Brink, Igor Stoppa

Agenda

- The goal(s) of software testing

- Contrasting approaches to Linux and safety (in automotive)

Notes

Paul described the three different approaches to using Linux in safety described by Red Hat, Elektrobit and Codethink at the recent exida Automotive Symposium

Igor: The hypervisor-based mechanism for protecting access to memory in the Elektrobit solution has limitations because of the integral role of Linux in managing the initialisation and addressing of physical memory. In some cases the kernel has a legitimate reason to perform the operation that may be blocked, and blocking this would cause a problem.

  • NVIDIA will be presenting their solution next week
