I wish I knew how to reproduce this, but I do not. If I ever manage to figure out the sequence of events, I shall update this post.
Sometimes EXWM seems to treat the *scratch* buffer as an X window when it comes to input. For example, I have C-a bound to <home> via simulation keys, and in scratch, C-h k C-a shows "C-a runs the command exwm-input-send-simulation-key". Of course, since I have various simulation keys that are incompatible with default key binds, this ends up making the buffer nigh unusable.
I feel like this only happens when I switch to *scratch* from Firefox, but even then it only happens sometimes.
